Digital Heritage: Preservation

The Digital Heritage domain's third challenge is ensuring the long-term preservation and accessibility of digitized and digital-born heritage.

What are the technical and ethical requirements for the long-term preservation of large digital datasets, as well as complex digital creative objects such as digital art, virtual worlds, and games? How to archive the dynamic, variable, and interactive World Wide Web? How to select the digital heritage of the future, such as blogs and Twitter feeds?

In addition to answering these questions, projects in this area also reflect on the way the specific requirements of preserving heritage affect existing theories of and strategies for preserving and documenting cultural heritage.
